Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacology

Medicinal & Pharmaceutical Chemistry plays an important role in the new drug discovery research area. The curriculum consists - of Medicinal & Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Combinatorial Chemistry, Advanced Organic Chemistry, and Drug Delivery Technology. These subjects are actively utilized in the leading pharmaceutical industries as strategic infrastructure to efficiently construct molecular diversity and to acquire more promising biological hit & lead compounds. In order to develop innovative drugs, it is necessary to systemize the core platform technologies, like small organic molecules and high throughput screening technologies, as a basis for the construction of novel drug. The Department contributes teaching in the form of lectures and practical laboratory exercises, as well as providing personal tutors to allow students to acquire special skills and high technological equipment for innovative drug discovery. Medicinal Chemistry Medicinal chemistry is an interdisciplinary science from synthetic organic chemistry, pharmacology, and computational chemistry. Medicinal chemistry activity includes design, chemical synthesis, and structure-activity-relationship (SAR) analysis toward bio-active small molecules. As an entry level medicinal chemist, students are trained with strong synthetic organic chemistry and instrumental analysis, problem-solving.
Pharmacology 1. Development of novel drug screening technology and its application to drug discovery
2. Research on anticancer, antiviral, cardioprotective drugs
3. Research on drug discovery platform technologies including pharmacokinetics, DDS, and HTS
